What is AmeriCorps VISTA?
AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. Founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965 and incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs in 1993, VISTA has been on the front lines in the fight against poverty in America for more than 40 years.
What VISTA Members Do
VISTA members commit to serve full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local government agency, working to fight illiteracy, improve health services, create businesses, strengthen community groups, and much more. With passion, commitment, and hard work, you’ll create or expand programs designed to bring individuals and communities out of poverty.

Carlos Guajardo is an AmeriCorps* VISTA at Think Tank, Inc. and is currently serving as the VISTA Leader assisting and supervising nine VISTAs working on the Ohio Circles Campaign. He is a certified Bridges Out of Poverty Trainer, Getting Ahead Facilitator and has led over 30 poverty simulations in Ohio over the past two years. His wealth of experience in leading and shaping the Circles Community in Clark County comes from the past 30 years of living at or below the poverty line. Carlos has taken what some may define as a troubled childhood and put it into practice helping community members to better understand the low-income population. He serves as the "Bridging Capitol" that is needed to truly transform a community. Carlos is a living example of what faith, hard work, positive relationships, Allies and a future story can do in the life of a person who was truly at the crossroads. Carlos' s future plans are to continue to build his communication skills, sharpen his community mobilization ability and become a national speaker and consultant to end poverty in the United States in this lifetime.
